"It can take years for a person to receive a Lyme disease diagnosis — particularly if the disease has advanced to the late stages or the person also has other tick-borne illnesses.
Knox County has the largest number of cases of Lyme disease in Maine. The rate for Lyme disease in Maine reached a record high in 2014 at 105.3 cases per 100,000 persons with Knox County's rate reported at 268 cases per 100,000, according to February 2015 information from the Maine Center for Disease Control. Lincoln County reported 231.8 cases and Waldo reported 120.7."
